    CUSTOMER SUPERMODEL TEAM Jan 2020

Posted: January 23 2020 in Customer Supermodels

Last week we had an inhouse photoshoot with an amazing group of ladies from our private LB Conversations group who came in for a beautiful day where we were able to capture some great imagery, of one of our big releases - as well as a lovely catch up in general.

In our Customer Supermodel blog, we have some great stories and insight into these lovely ladies, that we feel so lucky to call wonderful ambassadors for our brand and also our friends.

A special thank you also to our amazing team members Summer and Anna whose smiles light up the office - and these photos x.

Many of you will recognise Anne from her Facebook LB Resellers Group which she started after becoming an LB customer back in 2013. Annie wanted to create a space  "to share our love for the LB brand" and continues to run this page with the beautiful Gabrielle Lawrence (another of our incredible customers).

Fast forward to 2020 and we had the absolute pleasure of catching up with our beautiful friend Annie again during our recent photoshoot with some other fabulous ladies, which turned out to be a great day.

    Q&A

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

I grew up on the north side of Brisbane - Chermside.

I moved to the south side when I went to Uni and then to Mackay. After a few years there, I moved back to Brisbane and eventually to Redcliffe with a 12-month stay in Germany in between.

    I currently live in Redcliffe.

What was your dream job growing up and is that what you ended up doing?

I always wanted to be an air hostess or a teacher.

I am a teacher now and love to travel as much as I can so I guess I get to be in the air without having to work! I have had lots of opportunities to travel in my teaching role as well!

What is one of your most defining moments in life?

Having my own child was pretty special but I must say being present at the birth of my grandson was pretty special.

After a long night of labour baby Adam was born in the early morning and I went home to sleep and leave the parents bask in the joy of their newborn.

I remember falling onto my bed and crying my eyes out - I still have the mascara stain on my pillowcase - that was pretty special to be asked to be there.

Annie Customer Model Leina Broughton Australian FashionWhat are three of your favourite things to do?

I love to travel and experience new countries. I love going to the movies and live theater and I love to hang out with my family and friends especially my 6 year old grandson.

Your favourite aspect of being in the Leina Broughton Conversations Group

My favourite aspect is about the friendships I have developed and the close bonds I have with. I thought making new friends was not for this 60 year old but I am pretty lucky to have found some very special ladies to love and support me and who I can love and support in the same way!

    Your “go-to” LB piece?

That's difficult to choose just one but I guess the Marnie Rascal or the Robin in pink petal

    What is your favourite quote?

It’s 2020 – what are you choosing to leave behind and what will you be taking forward into 2020, your new year.

I'd like to be able to think of something really profound but really I'm just leaving some rather tough times at work behind and I taking with me into 2020 the love and support of my family and friends.

    SUPERMODEL KELLY

    Kelly is a size 18 & 174cm tall

    Q&A

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

Mackay - I now live in Brisbane and have called Brisbane home for the last 19 years.

What was your dream job growing up and is that what you ended up doing?

I first of all wanted to be a teacher right up until I hit high school, my grandfather was very ill at that time and I changed my mind and then wanted to become a nurse so that I could help people.

Yes that is what I do now. I did my training as soon as I finished high school. I have done many different specialties, but my dream was to always be an Emergency Nurse. It took me a few years to get into, but for 20 years of my career I lived my dream of being an Emergency nurse. I am currently using that experience in the position I have in Metro South Health.

What is one of your most defining moments in life?

I would have to say apart from getting married and becoming a mum, something I thought I would never be, I worked in the Middle East in Saudi Arabia early in my career. I was only 23 years old when I left the country and had only been out of the state once to Sydney before going on this adventure. I look back now and realise how young I was to leave the comforts of home and family and everything I knew. I feel I grew up in Saudi. I needed to be independent, strong and fearless.

This is where I began my career of Emergency nursing, which gave me the experience to pursue my dream back here in Australia. I was there for 3 years. I went to Saudi Arabia to have a different experience to all my friends. All my friends were going to the UK, I wanted something different. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I feel I returned to Australia with a lot of travel under my belt, a fantastic cultural experience and a new appreciation for the Australian culture that I so dearly love.

What are three of your favourite things to do?

Firstly I love to travel. I believe it is one of the best educations you can have to experience a new culture and see how the rest of the world lives. I work so that I can pay for that next holiday.

Secondly I am involved in scouting. I am a Venturer Scout Leader. The age group that I lead is 14.5 - 18 years old. I feel that my responsibility is not only to teach this young age group the adventurers that scouting has to offer, but to also teach them how to be upstanding members of the community, providing service to the community, showing leadership and also being part of a team.

Thirdly I am a bit of a workaholic. I enjoy working. It keeps me active. I have two jobs at the moment and enjoy both. I am a big believer that we are at work for a large percentage of our time, so we may as well do something we love and enjoy!

Your favourite aspect of being in the Leina Broughton Conversations Group

I love the support that everyone gives each other. I love seeing everyone in their LB clothing, their styles and working out from that what might suit me.

    Your “go-to” LB piece?

My navy Casey - I love her. She is always in the wash! She is fantastic for the hot climate here in Queensland. I can dress her up or wear her casually. She is so comfortable. I would love to see more Casey’s!

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“It’s my life” by Bon Jovi. I love this song and it resonates to me. I have been told a lot of times in my lifetime what I can and can’t do. This song is the epitome of what I stand for. “ it’s my life!” I even told the kids to remember that for my funeral song!! Haha.

It’s 2020 – what are you choosing to leave behind and what will you be taking forward into 2020, your new year.

I am going to try really hard to leave behind my own personal negative body image impressions I have about myself.

Moving forward: I want to have a better more positive feeling about myself. My husband has been a little concerned about my recent addiction to LB, but like I told him, when I put on one of my lovely dresses, I feel beautiful, something I don’t get to feel very often. I plan to work on this. I am a very confident person when it comes to my personality and what I do for a living, I want this to for everything about me, inside and out!!!

BTW hubby has been great with my new addiction after this confession. He even buys me vouchers for xmas and birthday’s. How spoilt am I? He is trained well.

    SUPERMODEL ANNE

Posted: January 22 2020 in Customer Supermodels

    Anne is a size 14 & 172cm tall

    Q&A

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

Grew up until the age of 10 in Sydney. But can’t say I’m a Sydney girl, I’m definitely Brisbane. After the family moved here in 1969 this is where we stayed. Right now I live in Toowong.

What was your dream job growing up and is that what you ended up doing?

I honestly can’t say I had a dream job. I was a child of the 60s and 70s with very conservative parents. I wasn’t encouraged to go on to further education. We were told we’d marry and have babies. So we felt we were limited. It was hairdresser, secretary, flight attendant or nurse. There was the ‘go to’ job.

I became a Secretary and must admit I loved it and was good at it. For almost 20 years.

It was my own health journey that led me to a whole different path to being a yoga instructor and food coach now. And if you’d ever mentioned either of those 2 words in one sentence 20 years ago I would have thought you were nuts.

What is one of your most defining moments in life?

When I discovered I could take hold of my own health. I came from parents who lived for their doctor. They had regular trips to their doctor and did only what they were told and totally closed up to anything natural or alternative. When my health took a downturn I knew deep in my gut I had the power to change things – holistically.

So getting a grip of what I ate and how I moved were both defining moments. Yoga has been pivotal to who I am today.

What are three of your favourite things to do?

    1. Love my morning coffee. My husband makes it for me and knows exactly how I like it. It’s that lovely morning ritual that I don’t ever want to be without.
    2. Water yoga. I look forward to summer time. Doing yoga in the pool is simply divine.
    3. Girl time. It’s important to have a tribe of women around you and when I can gather some of them, it’s so fun.

Your favourite aspect of being in the Leina Broughton Conversations Group

Seeing how the pieces look on different body shapes and colourings. It’s wonderful to see the new releases, but it’s even better when some of the members get them home and photograph them on. It’s educational and great fun.

    Your “go-to” LB piece?

Stella – it’s perfect for me.

    What is your favourite quote?

‘The idea is to die young as late as possible’. – Not sure who said it.

If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?

There’s lots I like but a go to that I never tire of is ‘Mercy’ by Duffy.

It’s 2020 – what are you choosing to leave behind and what will you be taking forward into 2020, your new year.

2019 was a wonderful year for me. I remember saying in January that it was going to be my ‘year of yes’. I wasn’t saying no to anything. And I did. I said yes to as much as possible, I had an open mind and it was amazing.

I was a finalist in the Women in Business Awards. That was an amazing moment

So leaving behind great memories and lessons, but I want to take that same attitude into 2020. Open, positive and coachable. I’ll still focus on health and improving that all the time.
